Background
The Mildura Business Excellence Awards (BEA) was first conducted in 2003 to recognise local business excellence and create a process for continuous improvement.
Developed as a pathway for business towards higher honours in other relevant state and federal awards programs the BEA’s also provide operators with a comprehensive self analysis tool evaluating their strategic planning, marketing, risk management, corporate citizenship and sustainability.
Over the years, a number of new categories have been added to reflect the diverse business landscape and local industries.
In 2007 the BEA entered into it’s next phase with a partnership formed between Mildura Tourism and the Sunraysia Mallee Economic Development Board to auspice the awards and the Mildura Business Excellence Awards became incorporated. Other significant changes include the development of the awards process into to a two year time period.
The development of a two year cycle will mean that businesses will have a greater lead in time to prepare for the awards as well as celebrate and revisit their successes and reflect on their businesses development.
2007 saw a relaunch of the awards branding to reflect an ongoing cycle of continuous improvement and incorporation of the Mildura BEA.
