‘Astounded, amazed and incredibly surprised is how we felt when Triggs Trellis was announced as winning not only the Innovation, and Primary Producer/Agribusiness award but also the Mildura BEA Small Business of the Year 2008.
For months we received many kind words, congratulations and the sense of a great achievement, and when asked how the success has affected our business there is probably one key thing that we consider to be of the utmost importance - particularly for a home based business and that is Credibility!
Often businesses are only seen as genuine if they have the large workshop/office in town but for us, part of our business is our property and the examples of best farming practices that it shows our customers when they come to see us is why we have decided to keep our operations at home.
Credibility has been given to us through the BEA awards by being able to utilize its branding and this we believe has assisted in increasing interest from new customers that are even further afield than Sunraysia.
Awareness of what we do is also a large part of what BEA has contributed to our business. We have not had large marketing budgets to work with over the years and have built our entire business from nothing, so awareness of what we do has come from word of mouth, basic advertising campaigns and by layering our business in a way where we can offer our existing customers further services and of course continuing to provide consistent quality products and services so they keep coming back!
It was quite interesting to hear the whispers as we were going to receive our awards on the night…“What do they do? Who are they?” – We can bet that those people now know!
Our team has been inspired to continue their great work and the BEA awards certainly kept everyone on a high for some time, which has obvious effects on productivity and enthusiasm in general!
The community network has also been affected and has definitely given us further opportunities over this past twelve months, and this should continue to be the case over the next years.
So for Triggs Trellis Supplies we will continue to improve and learn and with the assistance of the BEA recognition and we will again evolve and grow into an even more successful business that can offer our region further employment opportunities and economic growth.’

When I was approached re being nominated for a Special Award, my thoughts were that I could not win knowing people who had won in the past - I was not in that “League”. So, when my name was read out I found it quite unbelievable.
I was amazed at the number of letters and phone calls I received and felt very honoured with all their good wishes.
I continue to enjoy what I do at the Gardens – taking venue bookings, organising weddings, tours, Newsletters etc. I recommend people to volunteer for whatever organisation they are interested in, it will open up a new world for them.
Our Gardens would not be at the stage they are now if we did not have volunteers.
I like to think that my Award was directed to all our wonderful volunteers at the Gardens.
